Green Homes

Green homes today have a variety of features to lower their impact on the planet though solar panels are one of the best ways to save money on power bills while simultaneously lowering impact on the environment. There are no emissions or fuel required to keep them going strong for years. About the only maintenance they need once installed is to be kept free from obstructions such as dust and snow.

Green homes should have their solar panels installed by a trained professional. It is not an incredibly complicated process, especially for an electrician, but an improperly installed panel can be useless if it is not installed correctly. The power has to be efficiently converted from DC to AC before being connected to the house or grid in grid-tie set-ups.

Green homes have a minimum lifespan of 25 years although if kept clean and stable they can potentially last much longer. With the correct wattage solar panels can completely power the entire home, possibly even the homes around it when connected to the grid. Other ways of going green are installing a greenhouse on the home and having passive and active heating and cooling systems.
